Book Launch & Local History Day

INVITATION

Ballinascreen Historical Society is pleased to invite you to a combined Book Launch and Local History Day on Saturday 2nd November.  The programme commences at 10:45am and the full program of events is set out below but you are welcome to join or leave at any time.  

Following initial assembly for car sharing at St Colm’s High School and a visit to St Anne’s there is a walking tour of Draperstown where the history of the various buildings and businesses will be shared.

The book launch begins at 3:00pm in St Columba’s Church Draperstown following with refreshments, book sales and book signing at 4:00pm in the Workspace Community Hub at 50 High Street.

The latest book, our 50th publication, titled “Ballinascreen Church of Ireland (St Columba’s & St Anne’s), provides a record of baptisms (from 1808), marriages (from 1825) and burials (from 1824).  The 159 page book will be of great value to family historians and includes names, dates of birth and baptism, abode, parent’s names/professions, marriage dates, grooms/brides, dates of death and burial with age and name of officiating clergyman for the particular ceremonies,  The 159 page book will be available for sale on the day at £15.

11.00am   Meet at St Anne’s

Walking tour of Draperstown

1.30pm    Meet at Workspace Community Hub, 50 High Street

Visit to St Columba’s Church, Draperstown

3.00pm   Brief historical talk and Launch of Society’s 50th publication

Next Monthly Meeting

At the next monthly meeting on Tuesday 5 November, Boyd Gray will take us through Local Geneology and Online Databases.  All are welcome at the usual time of 8:00pm in the Workspace Community Hub.
